I hope you're wondering about the photo of the rock. (Wondering about things is one of my favorite activities.) I walked past this rock for years before discovering a face in it. Now I always see this fellow winking as I go by. Perhaps Mary Oliver would say that I'd finally paid attention. She's one of my favorite poets, and this line of verse speaks to me in many ways. Actually, I do try very hard to pay attention! I love to go for "explores" - usually with the dog - in the fields and woods and by the creek near my home. There is always something to see, or smell, or hear, or touch, or maybe even taste. I think this is why I also love to write nonfiction for young people. What could be better than showing and sharing the wonders of our world? And now, if you're wondering about my work, and me, I invite you to take a look around. ~ Janeen |
